Travelling Starlab

Discover the universe in the Royal Ontario Museum’s travelling Starlab. Crawl inside to experience the stars and the constellations around them. Created by the Hamilton Museum of Steam and Technology this entertaining, fun and kid-friendly exhibit offers the incredible story of Canadian water. Hours are Tuesday, Thursday – Sunday from 11 am – 4 pm and Wednesday from 11 am – 8 pm. Admission is $7.00 for adults, $3 for children 5-12 and free for members and children 4 and under.

42nd Annual Canoe the Nonquom
Participate in the longest running canoe race in Ontario. The traditional canoe race down the Nonquon River and into Lake Scugog will be held on Saturday, June 5. Registration takes place Friday, June 4 from 6:00 - 9:00 pm and Saturday, June 5 from 7:00 - 9:00 am. The first boats can enter the river on Saturday at 7:00 am. Chrome by the Lake: the Annual Scugog Shores Classic Car Show & Shine
The Scugog Standard presents “Chrome by the Lake” – the annual Scugog Shores Classic Car Show and Shine, on Water St. in Port Perry, overlooking the waterfront of Lake Scugog. The show, an annual favourite of classic car fans from across the township and beyond, will open at 8 a.m. that day and will once again feature classic cars from the 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s, as well as custom and tuner cars. The event will also feature vendors of car memorabilia and builder items. All profits from the show will go toward supporting the work at the Scugog Shores Museum. Entry is only $5 per car, and includes 50/50 draws for car owners, as well as draws for thousands of dollars in prizes. Dog Days celebrates the unique bond that exists between dogs and their people. It has grown to be the largest Dog Day in Durham Region. Highlights include the popular doggie talent contest, free for all dogs to enter, Ontario Dock Dogs, Agility demonstrations, Canadian Association of Rally Obedience, fashion shows, parade of breeds and more. Visit with local breeders to discover what breed would be the best fit for your family, explore unique gift ideas for your pooch from one of the many vendors or just have fun introducing your dog to some new friends. Admission to the all-day event is $5 for adults, $3 for students and seniors and free for all children under 12 and all dogs. 2-Day Passes are also available. Murder Mystery Evening
Scugog Shores Museum Village
Explore the Museum village and help the detectives solve a mysterious murder. All assistant detectives will have the opportunity to interview the villagers and search for clues, in order to get to the bottom of this puzzling crime. Prizes, donated by local merchants, will be awarded to the detectives who catch the culprit. Tickets are $15 and must be purchased in advance. Children’s Old-Fashioned Christmas

Step back in time and experience Christmas over 100 years ago. The Scugog Shores Museum Village will be hosting the Children’s Old-Fashioned Christmas on Sunday, Dec. 6 from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. Santa will be hearing wishes in the Pioneer Schoolhouse. Take a tour of the Museum Village, traditionally decorated for the holidays. Victorian Christmas crafts for children, heritage demonstrations and refreshments will be offered throughout the day. Admission is $2.00/adult, children 12 & under are free.
